The incident occurred on Saturday night, at around 11:25 p.m., in Iwiny (Warta Bolesławiecka commune). As we read on the Facebook profile of the volunteer firefighters from Raciborowice:
The Command Post of the Bolesławiec District Headquarters of the State Fire Service dispatched us to a car accident in Iwiny. An intoxicated driver of a passenger car left the road, hit a roadside lamp and then left the scene on foot.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The aggressive perpetrator was located and handed over to the police. Firefighters from Bolesławiec, Warta Bolesławiecka and Raciborowice, as well as a police patrol and a medical rescue team, took part in the operation.
The Fiat Seicento was driven by a 35-year-old man from Bolesławiec County. The man refused to take a breathalyzer test, so his blood was taken for testing. If it turns out that the 35-year-old got behind the wheel while drunk—that is, that he had more than 0.5‰ of alcohol in his blood at the time of the incident—he could face up to two years in prison.
