The first lecture at the session was delivered by the well-known Bolesławiec physician Dr Janina Słobodzian-Rakowska, a national authority in manual therapy, co-creator of Holistic Manual Therapy and one of the three teachers of this method in Poland.

Dr Janina Słobodzian-Rakowska believes that the mutual interactions between the craniofacial region and the entire musculoskeletal system—and, through it, the internal organs—are overlooked by many specialists when working with patients suffering from temporomandibular joint problems. An additional factor complicating patient diagnosis is that the mandibular-hyoid-cranial system is an extremely sensitive recipient of stress. It is in the tissues of this system that a person’s reactions connected with parental patterns and the experience of primary emotions, such as anger, rage and disagreement with the existing situation, are recorded.

At Friday’s session, the lecturers explained what to do when stress has settled in the temporomandibular joint. They provided practical information and drug-free treatment methods for craniofacial pain, dental problems, dizziness, and non-organic disorders affecting the eyes, ears and throat.
