On Monday, February 23, a municipal police patrol stopped in front of the Atos Muszkieterów Centre. The uniformed officers parked in a disabled parking space. In an email to our editorial office, a Reader wrote: “The sign was visible despite the snow melting on it, and there was plenty of space in the car park, as always in the morning in front of every supermarket.” The Reader added: “Maybe the general traffic regulations and ordinary, entirely unregulated human morality do not [strażników miejskich – przyp. red.] apply to them either?”.

We wrote in October last year that drivers very often park in spaces for people with disabilities. “We intervene in this matter practically every day,” Kamila Chalewicz, deputy commander of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police, told us at the time. Since 2005, Bolesławiec municipal police officers have participated in a parking campaign under the slogan: “Would you really want to be in our place?”

Emil Zając, commander of the Municipal Police, admits that the officers made a mistake. “They went to Intermarché to intervene, not to shop,” he stresses. However, he adds that he does not want to excuse the officer who was driving the car and will certainly draw consequences for him.
