The Prosecutor General’s request concerns an investigation conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra into irregularities in the contracting of ophthalmic services by the National Health Fund in 2013.
The prosecutor’s office intends to charge the head of the Civic Platform parliamentary club, Sławomir Neumann, with exceeding his powers while serving as secretary of state at the Ministry of Health. Investigators say:
As a result of his actions, a contract was concluded with one of Warsaw’s ophthalmology clinics, enabling it to obtain a financial benefit of PLN 13.5 million. The agreement with the company had previously been terminated after it was discovered that the company had unlawfully charged patients additional fees for the health services provided.
As part of the preparatory proceedings conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, on February 6, 2018, Adam T., former director of the Masovian branch of the National Health Fund, was charged with the crime of exceeding his powers in order to obtain a financial benefit.
