The Mayor of Bolesławiec, Piotr Roman, decided to dismiss the director of BOK effective 19 February 2009. The dismissal followed consultation with the BOK Trade Union of Culture and Art Workers. Mayor Roman justifies his decision with “substantive grounds”, but does not want to explain precisely why he dismissed Zbroja. He also announced that he himself would decide who will manage BOK and that no competition would be announced for this important position.
Ewa Zbroja has not yet decided whether she will continue working at BOK in another position. For now, she is on another sick leave, while Iwona Bojko has been performing the director’s duties since today.
Unofficially, it is being said that Ewa Lijewska, director of the Youth Cultural Centre, will replace Ewa Zbroja.
Recently, some media outlets reported false information that Ewa Lijewska had already left her job and was waiting for a position at BOK. This was not true, however: Ewa Lijewska must work at least another two months at MDK. The director cannot suddenly leave the institution, even by mutual agreement.
