In November last year, we wrote that the county hospital had submitted an application to the Regional Operational Programme. “Our application was well received,” Adam Zdaniuk, director of the Bolesławiec medical facility, told IstotneInformacje.pl. The facility will receive nearly PLN 1.4 million for computerization. What is more, the ZOZ ranked second in Lower Silesia in terms of the amount of funding awarded. Only the hospital in Oleśnica will receive more money.
As the head of the ZOZ emphasizes, the application was very carefully considered. Zdaniuk appointed a team of people who prepared the initial assumptions for the application. An external company then developed the entire project. The result? The hospital secured the amount it had applied for.
The computerization will cost more than PLN 1.6 million. The medical facility will receive nearly PLN 1.4 million from the ROP; the remainder will be the hospital’s own contribution. Some of the investment has already been completed.
Why is computerizing the facility so important? “The point is to make the system more efficient. Computerization is the foundation of both oversight and management,” Adam Zdaniuk explains. He adds that the investment will improve, among other things, communication between the hospital and diagnostic companies, which will affect the effectiveness of treatment and the speed of decision-making. According to Zdaniuk, computerization will also help reduce “paperwork.”
The ZOZ plans to announce a tender in March. “We want to prepare this procedure properly,” the director emphasizes. If everything goes according to plan, the first stage of computerizing the county hospital will begin in mid-2009.
