Before the match began, police officers, working with security personnel, detained four people. (All of them had brought pyrotechnic devices onto the grounds of the mass event.) Those detained were two 19-year-olds and two 16-year-olds from Złotoryja County.
The adult offenders appeared before the court under expedited proceedings. Each was fined PLN 1,600 and banned from attending mass events for two years. The family court will decide the fate of the minors.
During the first half, flares were lit in the stadium. Bangers exploded. After setting off a banger, one of the perpetrators placed it on the ground. The explosion was so powerful that it injured three people; seven seats were damaged. Two 16-year-old girls suffered superficial injuries.
The other injured person was the man who set off the banger. He was taken to hospital. After being discharged from the medical facility, he was detained and taken into police custody. The 28-year-old from Lubin appeared before the court under expedited proceedings. He was fined PLN 2,600 and banned from attending mass events for two years.
Police are continuing to analyze surveillance footage and have not ruled out further arrests.
