– Thank you for the information. We are currently checking what led to this situation, and we will certainly monitor the cleanliness around the store – Maciej Galicki, spokesperson for the Dino chain, told istotne.pl Maciej Galicki.

Let us recall that on Tuesday, 3 April, we reported that a resident of Iwiny (Warta Bolesławiecka municipality) described the matter on the wykop.pl website:

Recently, on the main [stronie wykopu] page, one can regularly come across an article praising the dynamic development of the Polish Dino supermarket chain. Each time, it is compared with Western corporations operating in our country. However, what I am about to show you bears no resemblance to Western standards.

Taking advantage of the beautiful weather, I went for a walk around my hometown on a holiday afternoon. I headed to the area around Dino in Iwiny (Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Bolesławiec County), where there is plenty of open space for my dogs to run freely. As I walked around the area, I noticed a great deal of rubbish scattered throughout the surroundings. I thought: today’s young people have not the slightest respect for their own town and no awareness of how much harm such waste causes to the environment.

After walking a few dozen metres farther, I reached the old buildings of a now-defunct mine. I looked inside and saw what was essentially a rubbish dump, an illegal waste site. It caught my attention because among the mountain of rubbish I found an unopened lettuce, sealed kefir, quite a large quantity of tomatoes and mushrooms, torn flour packages and broken plates. I immediately thought that this was waste from the nearby Dino store. I decided to rummage around a little to find anything that would confirm that these rubbish items had not been thrown away by some random person.

Our reader added:

My suspicion was correct – I found documents from consignment notes bearing the exact store address, as well as receipts. It is terrible what the area around this store looks like. ONE HUGE DUMP!!! It certainly was not caused by local residents.

It is outrageous that a domestic chain which presents itself as a genuinely Polish brand pays so little attention to staff training and absolutely does not care about the environment. It looks very bad in light of all those laudatory articles.
