As we read on the wykop.pl portal:
Recently, on the main [stronie wykopu] one can regularly come across an article praising the dynamic growth of the Polish Dino supermarket chain. Each time, it is compared with Western corporations operating in our country. However, what I am going to show you has nothing to do with Western standards.
Taking advantage of the beautiful weather, I went for a walk around my home town on a holiday afternoon. I went to the area around Dino in Iwiny (Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Bolesławiec County), where there is plenty of open space for my dogs to run freely. Walking around the area, I noticed a great deal of rubbish scattered throughout it. I thought: today’s young people have not the slightest respect for their own town or awareness of the damage such waste causes to the environment.
Walking several dozen metres farther, I reached the old buildings of a now-defunct mine. I looked inside and saw what was essentially a dump—an illegal waste site. It caught my attention because among the mountain of rubbish I found an unopened lettuce, sealed kefir, quite a large quantity of tomatoes and mushrooms, as well as torn flour packages and broken plates. I immediately thought that this was waste from the nearby Dino store. I decided to dig around a little to find anything that would confirm that these rubbish items had not been thrown away by some random person.
A resident of Iwiny added:
My intuition was right—I found documents from consignment notes bearing the store’s exact address, as well as receipts. It is terrible to see what the area around this store looks like. ONE HUGE DUMP!!! It certainly was not caused by local residents.
It is outrageous that a domestic chain which presents itself as a truly Polish brand pays so little attention to staff training and absolutely does not care about the environment. It looks very bad against the backdrop of all those laudatory articles.
We will return to the subject.
