On Friday, February 13, the “Palette of Feelings” exhibition opened at the MDK Gallery of Talented Artists. Sixteen girls from the stained-glass and fundamentals of drawing and easel painting groups presented their work: Monika Boczarska, Agnieszka Chrzan, Patrycja Czechowska, Manuela Czernatowicz, Patrycja Domańska, Jowita Kęsik, Katarzyna Kłopotek, Natalia Mosorka, Paulina Pacholczyk, Sandra Siudak, Agnieszka Sobieralska, Magdalena Sroka, Kinga Szewczyk, Paulina Szylin, Justyna Turek and Marta Wysocka.
“This is a very feminine exhibition,” Katarzyna Sas, an MDK instructor, told IstotneInformacje.pl Katarzyna Sas. “Each of us is different,” says Katarzyna Kłopotek. “We came up with the idea that during the opening each of us would represent a different colour,” she adds.
The works vary greatly, both in subject matter and form. The exhibition features glass works, mosaics, paintings, pencil sketches and batiks. The artists themselves write about the exhibition: “Sixteen girls, sixteen colours, sixteen personalities and temperaments. [...] For some, art is the future, life, a way to express their own emotions and feelings; for others, it is a moment of relaxation or, on the contrary, hard, laborious work and striving toward an intended goal.”
What do the works on display have in common? Femininity and a love of art. The young artists chose two quotations that serve as the exhibition’s mottos: “A world without art risks becoming a world closed to love” (John Paul II) and “Works of art spring from infinite solitude... Only love can understand, preserve and justly assess them” (Rainer Maria Rilke). “Both quotations matched our observations about art, love and women,” Katarzyna Kłopotek notes.
Some of the participants in the “Palette of Feelings” exhibition plan to study at an academy of fine arts. “Katarzyna Kłopotek and I are tying our future to art,” says Justyna Turek. Justyna wants to study in the glass department, while Katarzyna plans to study graphic design. Art also occupies a very important place in the life of the exhibition’s youngest participant, Magdalena Sroka. The young artist does not yet have specific plans. “But painting and drawing will certainly always accompany me,” she assures us.
