Bolesławiec resident Tomasz Sawczak has a new band! The guitarist and vocalist of The Twisters Band founded the pop-rock group Sny together with Waldemar “Ace” Mleczka, who has played in such bands as Łzy, Big Cyc, Poerox and Obstawa Prezydenta. “I met him at a Twisters concert. He suggested that we form a new band,” Tomasz explains. They quickly completed the lineup. “To our surprise, some very good musicians contacted us,” he adds.
Besides Tomasz and Waldemar Mleczka, Sny are made up of Andrzej Stagraczyński, bassist of Stare Dobre Małżeństwo, Jacek Markuszewski and Marcin Walecki. “We wanted to create a band in which we could play what we really like, something stylistically different from our main bands,” Tomasz explains.
Sny play pop-rock music. However, the band members have not completely turned their backs on their rock roots. Sny’s music is based on a strong guitar sound and a lively rhythm section.
The band have already recorded three songs and released their debut single, “Zapatrzeni”, independently. “The vast majority of bands prepare singles in MP3 format. We decided to release a compact disc,” says Damian Sawczak, Sny’s manager and formerly the manager of Sumptuastic.
The band is becoming increasingly popular. “Before the single reached Polish radio stations, our song was already being played in Chicago and Australia,” Tomasz says with a laugh. “Polish-language radio stations abroad received the song very warmly,” Damian adds. What is more, the band is also becoming better known in Poland. “Zapatrzeni” is topping the charts of several Polish radio stations.
Plans
Sny will release a second single soon. “It will be even better than the first one,” Tomasz announces. The band then plans to focus on work on an album. “I believe in this band, and I believe this music will find many listeners,” Damian adds.
As Sny’s vocalist emphasizes, the band would also like to perform a concert in Bolesławiec soon: “The entire band has strong ties to this city. ‘Ace’ played in Obstawa Prezydenta, and Andrzej performed here many times with Stare Dobre Małżeństwo.”
