The third meeting of the “Comedy Without Borders” project will feature two excellent comedies by Petr Zelenka and Olaf Lubaszenko, as well as an evening with Dariusz Kordek: a singing actor known for his work in theatre, television series and films. In “Sztos”, he played Grucha’s gangster’s assistant.

We have 10 double invitations for our readers. All you have to do is write to us using the contact form or on Facebook: I want an invitation. We will give them to ten people.

Dariusz Kordek became known to a wide audience for his role in the first Polish TV series, “W labiryncie”. On the big screen, he became famous for one of the leading roles in Władysław Pasikowski’s film “Kroll”. He combines acting with singing: he performed in the famous musical Metro, recorded his own album, and successfully appeared in the music programmes “Jak oni śpiewają” and “Twoja twarz brzmi znajomo”. He currently not only performs in the musical “Bodo” (a production about the legendary pre-war actor Eugeniusz Bodo), but is also its director and producer.

About the films

“Buttoners” is a dark comedy by Petr Zelenka: six independent stories connected by their creator through shared motifs. Episodes set in contemporary Prague, Japanese Kokura and aboard the “Enola Gay” bomber are linked by mysterious connections permeating the course of events. The film’s title refers to a fictional condition suffered by one of the characters. Buttoners are people who pull buttons out of upholstered furniture using a certain part of their body. Which part? You will find out on Saturday, February 10.

“Sztos” is a story set in the 1970s, in which the fates of two “schemers” become intertwined. Eryk (Jan Nowicki) is a seasoned con artist who has to get even with a colleague from the trade, while Synek (Cezary Pazura) is a petty crook learning the “profession”. Together they set off across Poland, wreaking havoc... in the wallets of tourists carrying foreign currency, offering to exchange Western currencies at attractive black-market rates. The titular “sztos” is a scam with which the pair plans to trap a man known as “Grucha”. The plan appears to have been prepared perfectly, but life writes its own scripts.
