Good morning, about three weeks ago someone abandoned a car on the road by Gdańska Street in Bolesławiec (heading towards the former POM, at the fork in the road to Bożejowice/Rakowice). The car stood there for some time and was vandalized; a window was smashed. I reported the matter to the Municipal Police and was informed that the Police were handling it. A few days ago, the car was moved to the car park by the cemetery, on the Eurocash side, and was left abandoned there (the car had registration plates). Today (Friday, February 2—the editorial note), on my way to work, I noticed that the car was covered in foam, so it seems it caught fire during the night. Why was the car not collected by its owner or the relevant services, but instead left in a public car park, ultimately causing a fire that always poses a threat to nearby residents or people using the car park by the cemetery?!
The Police and the Municipal Police may order a car to be towed at the owner’s expense when, among other things, the vehicle is left on a public road in a place where this is prohibited, where it obstructs traffic or poses a safety risk. In the case of the car left by Gdańska Street, the Police did not receive a report that the vehicle posed a risk to road traffic.
The car was left there because of a breakdown. The owner reported that, in the meantime, the car had been robbed, and the Police were conducting their activities in that regard (the perpetrator of the theft has already been identified and arrested).
After the car was robbed, the owner moved it to the car park on Gdańska Street, near the Eurocash wholesaler. Unfortunately, shortly afterwards the car caught fire.
The burned-out wreck has already been removed from Gdańska Street. Only ash, sludge, glass and other rubbish remain where it stood. I wonder whether anyone will clean it up? – the reader wonders.
