The project entitled “Promotion of Tourist Attractions in the Cross-Border Area of Bolesławiec and Bautzen Counties” is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg Poland – Saxony 2014–2022 Small Projects Fund. The project partners are Powiat Bolesławiecki and Powiat Bautzen, which have been cooperating in various fields for almost 18 years. This long-standing partnership is based, among other things, on educational projects and the exchange of experience between schools, as well as on cultural and social activities. Knowledge of legal, institutional and social conditions enables the cooperation to develop. The implementation of the project is one element of the ongoing cooperation and is intended to intensify mutual contacts in the social sphere.
As part of the project, the partners intend to promote the tourist attractions of the counties in order to develop tourism exchange and increase awareness of the shared cultural heritage, historic sites and other tourist attractions in the cross-border area. The attractions will be promoted in a traditional form—a trilingual guidebook will be produced—and in a modern form—a trilingual website and mobile application will be created. In addition, the project includes a conference devoted to the development of tourism in the cross-border area of both counties. The aim of the project is to strengthen the partnership between Bolesławiec and Bautzen counties in the development of tourism in the cross-border area of Poland and Saxony. The project is scheduled for completion on 31 March 2018. The project value is €18,511.50, with a co-financing rate of 85%.
