A child’s parent contacted us. The child often plays at the Orlik sports pitch near the Janusz Korczak Secondary School No. 2 in Bolesławiec. According to the parent, the white Renault that has been standing in the parking lot near the “No. 2” school for about two years is now posing a serious danger, because children who carelessly climb into the wreck could injure themselves.
The car is becoming increasingly damaged. Its license plates and wheels are missing. The windshield is shattered and pierced by a board. The side windows and the rear window have been completely broken. The interior has been wrecked.
Someone tore off the fuel-filler flap. (This could be dangerous if some vandal—there is certainly no shortage of them in Bolesławiec—were to get the idea of throwing a match in there, for example.)
The headmaster of “No. 2,” Mirosław Sakowski, intervened in the matter with both the Municipal Police and the regular police—we reported this already in August last year. “Article 50a of the Road Traffic Act clearly states the situations in which the police or municipal police may tow away a car. This applies exclusively to public roads. This is not a public road; it is private property,” Kamila Chalewicz-Pudłowska, head of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police, explained to us in the summer. (Municipal police officers often intervene in such cases, but only when the matter concerns public roads.)
The headmaster of II LO also notified the police. A local district officer arrived at the scene. Unfortunately, both uniformed services decided that there were no grounds to tow the vehicle away.
This is what the Renault looked like in August last year:
