The chapter, whose members include actors, local government officials, writers, doctors, journalists, members of parliament and politicians, awarded Bolesławiec County the Order of Joy in the “County Friendly to People with Disabilities” category. The judges highly rated the annual Christmas wafer meetings for people with disabilities, the Occupational Therapy Workshops program, cooperation with non-governmental organizations and the program to eliminate architectural barriers.

Bolesławiec County is the first county in Lower Silesia to receive this distinction. On Tuesday, January 20, a delegation from the County, headed by Deputy Starost Stanisław Chwojnicki, visited the headquarters of the Chapter of the Order of Joy (Wiry near Poznań). “This is a great success,” the deputy starost told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal. “It is thanks to all the employees of the County Office who work for people with disabilities, especially the employees of the County Complex of Schools and Special Education Institutions and the Occupational Therapy Workshops,” he added.

The distinction will be presented in February. From that moment, representatives of Bolesławiec County will be entitled to the dignity of Chapter Knight and the right to nominate laureates in subsequent editions.
