The tragedy occurred in August last year. A 59-year-old resident of Osiecznica, who collapsed in a forest near Przejęsław, called 112. It turned out that the employees of the Regional Emergency Notification Centre could not see the caller’s number. The operator asked the 59-year-old to provide a contact number. However, he gave the wrong final digits.

The incorrect number was passed on to the emergency services. The result? Help reached the man only after two hours. (The caller was searched for solely on the basis of the information he provided to the Regional Emergency Notification Centre.)

Importantly, an expert determined that the man’s health was so poor that the 59-year-old would have died even if the emergency medical team had reached him sooner.

In December last year, the District Prosecutor’s Office discontinued the proceedings because no crime had been established.
