How to Become a Viking? An Invitation to Workshops at the Museum of Ceramics
The Museum of Ceramics invites you to free workshops connected with an archaeological exhibition presenting one of the most famous Viking settlements – Truso. For centuries, this settlement was a legend of the Baltic Sea – a mysterious sunken city compared with Atlantis or ancient Troy.
The workshops will take place on 16, 17 and 18 January 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the History of the City Department of the Bolesławiec museum. Classes will begin on the hour and last approximately 45 minutes. The last class will begin at 1:00 p.m.
The workshops will be preceded by a short tour of the exhibition, with particular attention paid to topics such as shipbuilding and Viking expansion, the weapons of a Viking warrior, and jewellery associated with the Scandinavian peoples. After viewing the exhibition, children will make Viking shields based on preserved designs or jewellery inspired by beads and amulets discovered in Truso. Participants will be able to follow a map of Viking conquests and make schematic models of famous Viking ships – drakkars, which made this expansion so effective and far-reaching.
Groups interested in participating are asked to register by phone: 75 644 22 00 or by email: poczta@muzeum.boleslawiec.net. The workshop topic will be selected in consultation with the group supervisor and adapted to the children’s age. We warmly invite you to learn and have fun together!
Winter Holidays – An Invitation to Workshops at the Museum of Ceramics: Carnival Masks and Costumes
During the winter holidays, the Museum of Ceramics has prepared a special workshop programme. This year’s classes will focus on making carnival masks and costumes. The workshops will be held from 23 to 26 January 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the History of the City Department of the Bolesławiec Museum at 14 Kutuzowa Street.
Individual workshop blocks will begin on the hour. The workshops will consist of art classes. Participants can create colourful masks for social gatherings and fancy-dress parties. Various templates and art materials will be available, including paper, tissue paper, fabrics, sequins, beads and feathers.
Activities of this kind stimulate the imagination, develop creative thinking and artistic abilities, and foster a sense of aesthetics and beauty. They will be held as part of the Czech-Polish project Bolesławiec-Vrchlabi – Active Cross-Border Cooperation between Museums, co-financed by European Union funds through the European Regional Development Fund.
Groups and individuals interested in participating are asked to register by phone: 75 644 22 00 or by email: poczta@muzeum.boleslawiec.net. We warmly invite you to have fun together!
