A tragic accident occurred at the end of November last year in one of the houses on Kościuszki Street in Bolesławiec. Neighbors of the 58-year-old man noticed smoke coming from the house and alerted the fire service. (One of the neighbors entered the 58-year-old's house but, because of the dense smoke, did not notice the victim).
Firefighters were the ones who found the man's body; it was partially charred. Investigators ruled out the involvement of third parties. It turned out that the fire had been caused by a cigarette butt.
Moreover, it emerged that the man had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He died as a result of smoke inhalation.
