Nearly 600 community police officers from across the voivodeship took part in the poll. On January 8, we learned the names of 27 finalists—the most popular community police officers from all Lower Silesian counties—who advanced to the voivodeship final. In Bolesławiec County, asp. Robert Kuśmierczak won with 141 votes.

The primary aim of the poll is to select, based on votes cast by residents of the voivodeship, the most popular community police officer in Lower Silesia. Another important aim is to promote the role of the community police officer as the “first point of contact” among the local community.

The second stage of the poll will run until January 19, 2018. The winner will be recognized by the Lower Silesian Voivode and the Voivodeship Police Commander in Wrocław.

Voting takes place via SMS. Some of the funds raised through the voting will be donated to the family of sub-comm. Mariusz Koziarski, a police officer who died in the line of duty.

A community police officer is a police officer responsible for improving the safety of residents in their assigned area, whom anyone can approach for help and to provide important safety-related information. They listen to residents’ problems and initiate efforts to solve them, also involving other authorized entities and services.
