The incident occurred on New Year’s Day in Kowary. The duty officer at the local police station received information from firefighters that flames were coming from one of the apartments in a multi-family building.
At the scene, officers detained a 31-year-old man who created a direct danger of a fire.
It turned out that the suspect had set a carpet on fire and threatened the residents, saying he would kill them. A tragedy was narrowly avoided. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
The man was first taken to police custody and was then remanded in custody for three months by the court in Jelenia Góra. The 31-year-old could face up to eight years in prison.
