Officers on one of the streets in Lubin noticed a bus whose position light was not working. They stopped the driver of the vehicle, which was carrying schoolchildren, for inspection.

As it turned out, the burned-out bulb was just the tip of the iceberg. In 2013, the 54-year-old driver's authorisation to operate motor vehicles had been withdrawn. What's more, the man did not have the required medical examinations and had not completed the appropriate training. He also failed to record his working hours. The bus itself was not properly marked.

Furthermore, it came to light that the owner of the transport company to which the bus belonged knew about everything. Both she and the driver were fined PLN 5,000. The 54-year-old additionally faces up to two years in prison.
