Editorial staff: – How did you come up with the idea for the book?
Marcelina Pochojka: – The idea first emerged when I created a Facebook page titled “Bolesławianka in America.” There, I talked not only about the journeys I had taken and fulfilling my dreams, but also about real American life. I encountered many obstacles along the way, but thanks to my belief in self-realization, they always ended in victory. I think that this became the main theme. People began to take an interest in my adventure and in how I coped with difficult moments far from my family and friends. Once I was back in Europe, I decided to bring together all the memories from my thirty-month adventure into a single whole. That is how my book came into being.
What is the most personal aspect of this publication for you?
I think that every element of this book comes straight from my heart. I tell the story of a girl from a small town with big dreams – that girl is me. However, I believe that the most personal part is the story of true love, which enters my life and, at a surprisingly rapid pace, turns everything upside down.
How did you gather material for the book?
The material for writing my book consists simply of my memories collected overseas. Those thirty magical months are elements without which the book would not exist. Life on the other side of the world taught me to see everything in a completely different way. I think I am now a totally different person. I look at the world firmly and courageously.
Why do you recommend the book to the people of Bolesławiec?
I dedicate the book to everyone who cannot quite believe in their own dreams. Through my story, I want to make people aware that travel shapes our inner selves, enabling us to move through the world more boldly, and that life out of a suitcase can bring not only wonderful memories but also true love. I would never have expected my life to change so much because of America. I will not reveal anything more! I invite you to read it!
