In the poll organised by “Gazeta Wrocławska,” in the category for teachers of grades 4–8 and lower-secondary classes, the winner was Bolesławiec resident Bartek Klimkowski, a mathematics teacher at Oxpress.

Candidates for the poll were nominated either by their students’ parents or by the students themselves. “When I found out that I had been nominated, I thought that if I received 500 votes, it would be a really great success,” says the laureate. He received more than eight times as many: 4,047 votes. “This is probably a record in my category,” he adds.

Mathematics has always been Mr Klimkowski’s passion. At primary and secondary school, it was his leading subject. “I knew right away that I wanted to study mathematics and become a teacher,” admits B. Klimkowski. “I love working with young people; I love working with children. It gives me great satisfaction and joy.

“Every student is afraid of mathematics. I want to show that the devil is not as frightening as he is painted,” emphasises the Bolesławiec Teacher on Medal.

The greatest success in his eight-year career? “When a student comes to me and says that they cannot imagine life without mathematics,” adds Bartek Klimkowski. “That is the essence of the matter for me: inspiring students.
