General Józef Bem Street is a tiny street by the Bóbr River, with a dozen or so single-family homes. Its name had never bothered anyone until one of the nationalists decided, in the name of God, to fight Islam on home soil.
The nationalists discovered Wikipedia and read there that Józef Zachariasz Bem of the Bem coat of arms, a Polish general, strategist and writer, converted to Islam in order to become a field marshal in the army of the Ottoman Empire. Upon accepting Islam, he took the title of Pasha and the name Murad, derived from the Persian word “mordd,” meaning “desired.”
The nationalists’ petition reads: “We do not want Murad Pasha, alias Bem, on the walls of our genuinely Polish cities. They wanted to change Kubik Street because Kubik was a communist, but they will not change a street praising a Muslim?”
Would you sign the nationalists’ petition? The fact that Józef Bem converted to Islam is a historical fact.
This is an unbelievable news story. The information is fabricated, but Bem’s conversion to Islam is a fact
