The attention of Lubin police officers from the prevention department was drawn to a Fiat. The car was missing a window on the driver's side. The officers decided to check whether the vehicle had been stolen. They gave the driver a clear signal to stop. However, he did not stop; on the contrary, he began to flee. A chase began.
At one point, the fleeing driver entered a dead-end street and hit a box containing gas meters. (Fortunately, the installation did not become depressurized.) This did not stop the 40-year-old man from Lubin, however. He continued fleeing until he rammed the fence of another property. This effectively immobilized his car, as three wheels fell off the vehicle.
The man was arrested. He was sober. He explained to the officers that he was unsure whether he was wanted and whether he was subject to an active driving ban. Both concerns proved unfounded.
The 40-year-old man now faces up to five years in prison. The suspect will also have to pay for all the damage he caused while fleeing from the police.
