On 31 October, in Bolesławiec’s Hall of Councillors, Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman and Wiesław Cieśla, Solaris Bus & Coach S.A.’s Management Board Representative for Key Clients, signed an agreement concerning the purchase of low-emission buses for public transport in Bolesławiec.

The agreement covers the delivery of 13 brand-new low-floor buses meeting the Euro 6 exhaust-emission standard, fully adapted to the needs of people with disabilities and equipped with a designated space for transporting bicycles. The price per bus under the agreement is PLN 984,000, while the total bid price is PLN 12,792,000.

The project “Purchase of low-emission buses for public transport in Bolesławiec” received funding under the Regional Operational Programme for the Lower Silesian Voivodeship for 2014–2020, Priority Axis 3: Low-Emission Economy, Measure 3.4: Implementation of Low-Emission Strategies, Sub-measure 1 – 3.4.1: Implementation of Low-Emission Strategies – Horizontal Competitions. The funding amounts to PLN 8,845,100.

According to the agreement, the buses will be delivered within 210 days of the date the agreement is signed. “The MZK fleet will then consist of 21 Solaris buses that meet the highest technical standards,” says Andrzej Jagiera, president of MZK Bolesławiec.

“The purchase of new buses for public transport is another element in improving air quality in the city by limiting low emissions,” says Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman. The purchase of low-emission buses is intended to improve the quality of public transport and encourage people to use it.

Mayor Piotr Roman announces that, in order to effectively reduce private-car traffic and encourage passenger-car drivers to use public transport, free bus services operated by MZK are planned to be introduced in Bolesławiec in 2018.
