Almost a year ago, the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into the theft (between 2008 and October 2016) of products and semi-finished goods with a total value of more than one million zlotys.

The theft notification was filed by the company’s new management board, appointed in 2016 and associated with Law and Justice. – We do not know what happened to the products that disappeared, which is why we filed the notification – Wiesław Ogrodnik, president of Zakłady Ceramiczne Bolesławiec, said in November 2016. – We did not indicate who was responsible, because that is not our role.

– I have nothing to reproach myself for. I did what I did in accordance with professional standards. I cannot respond to these allegations – Karol Stasik, who was president of Zakłady before Ogrodnik on behalf of Civic Platform, said in turn.

– No evidence indicated theft. Zakłady Ceramiczne Bolesławiec could not even demonstrate how the items were allegedly stolen – says Ewa Łomnicka, head of the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators established that inventory records had been kept unreliably for years, and no one checked whether the figures in the books corresponded to reality. The errors kept accumulating. It may have been that items recorded in the books had never been manufactured.

The prosecutor’s decision to discontinue the investigation is already final, which means that Wiesław Ogrodnik did not appeal it.

So was it all much ado about nothing? What do you think?
