Ireneusz S., a court bailiff attached to the District Court in Zgorzelec, has been charged with exceeding his powers in order to obtain financial gain. S. allegedly concealed a number of documents over which he had no exclusive right of disposal. (These were files relating to enforcement proceedings conducted by him).

Moreover, he allegedly failed to make the office premises, together with its record-keeping equipment, enforcement files, IT system and other documents concerning financial operations and funds, available to his deputies—other bailiffs—as well as representatives of the Council of the Wrocław Chamber of Court Bailiffs, thereby acting to the detriment of private and public interests. (The criminal conduct took place from May to 18 September 2017).

Charges were also brought against two other people—employees of the court bailiff's office run by Ireneusz S. They allegedly helped the suspect commit the crime. Both are under police supervision. (One of them was also ordered to provide a financial guarantee).

The suspects may face up to two years in prison. S. himself could be sent to prison for as long as 10 years.
