Officers of the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit stopped a Fiat Ducato delivery van for inspection. It turned out that a concealed compartment—a double roof—had been installed in the van. After removing the tarpaulin, the officers discovered 182,000 cigarettes without Polish excise duty markings. The value of the illegal goods was estimated at nearly PLN 125,000.
The 24-year-old from Lubelskie Voivodeship faces a hefty fine and up to three years in prison. The proceedings in the case are supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Żary.
