Before the last session of the City Council at the beginning of December, we asked councillors from the ruling coalition (in a few days we will explain why only them) what they knew about the problems with the construction of a shopping centre in the area bounded by Zgorzelecka, Górne Młyny and Łokietka streets. It turned out that most of them had no idea about this enormous investment.
Councillor Bolesław Nowak is not familiar with the matter and does not want to comment. Councillor Józef Pokładek refers us to the mayor. Councillor Janusz Kozioł explains that he was interested in the problem, but it is difficult for him to say anything and he does not know the details. Councillor Krzysztof Pieszko was also interested, but cannot say anything. Councillor Jan Jasiukiewicz will not say anything because he knows nothing. Councillor Leszek Chudzik suspects that the “guy”, not the company, has no money. Councillor Małgorzata Goleńska did not have 30 seconds to talk because she was in a hurry to pick up her child. Councillor Jarosław Kowalski was also in a hurry, but to the town hall, which he called a “plant”, explaining that “we are interrupting his access”.
Fortunately, there were three councillors who knew something. Councillors Hubert Prabucki, Paweł Dul and Eugeniusz Kowalski spoke about the ongoing court proceedings concerning the plot. Councillor Dul knew the most and identified the main problem: the inability to obtain a building permit.
An exclusive interview, granted only to us by representatives of Spectrum Galerie, the current owner of the plot, will be broadcast this Wednesday in the “Into the Light” programme. It will discuss behind-the-scenes conversations with the mayor, how the authorities treat some entrepreneurs, the dispute awaiting the city, and possible compensation for the company.
