A resident of Bolesławiec, Mateusz Golsztajn, who fights professionally in Thailand, has once again travelled to the birthplace of muay thai (Thai boxing). Let us give the floor to the warrior from the City of Ceramics:
I had been looking forward to another trip very much. I have travelled to Thailand regularly since 2013. That was when I fulfilled my greatest dream. My goal was to come to the birthplace of muay thai, train, fight, learn from the best masters and fighters, and gain experience.
The level here is truly immense. Thai boxing is Thailand’s national sport. It is their culture and tradition. Hard work and dedication paid off, and during my fourth trip I managed to win the championship in 2016.
This unique place has become a second home and a source of genuine happiness for the Bolesławiec resident. Mateusz:
I always faithfully follow my passion and dreams. I travel to Thailand to keep developing in my sport, gain experience, train at full intensity and fight. When living in Thailand, I focus solely on muay thai.
So far, I have visited, trained and fought in seven different regions of Thailand. It is the adventure of my life and a fantastic experience. I discovered a completely different world and way of life. During that time, I fought 24 bouts.
I have many friends in Thailand and get along very well with these people; I quickly establish good contact and relationships. I love their mentality and approach to life. They are very kind and open people—very positive and cheerful. I always feel very happy and confident in Thailand. In total, I have spent almost two years in this country. I got to know its unique culture and people. I also managed to pick up a little of the language, although it is not easy.
I feel very much at home in Thailand and can do exactly what I love. From the very beginning, I have particularly liked the fact that people here are truly united. They are very kind, friendly and helpful toward one another. The nation is like one fist. It is safe here. There is no vandalism, needless aggression or looking for trouble. People are very cultured and conduct themselves properly. There is no social pathology. At least that is the side of Thailand I have come to know, and I am speaking about my own experiences. Thailand is the “Land of Smiles.” Total relaxation.
This time, the Bolesławiec resident landed in Thailand on September 6—on his birthday, as it happened. The Bolesławiec warrior:
I gave myself a truly excellent present. I spent the first few days in Bangkok, visiting interesting tourist attractions, exploring beautiful temples and taking it easy. I know Bangkok well and know what it has to offer, so I did not waste any time. I also enjoyed the food during those first few days. I had missed Thai cuisine; it is genuinely tasty and rich. In fact, I missed everything, because I had really grown attached to this place.
Then I went to Hua Hin, a town three hours from Bangkok. It was my first time visiting this region, and I liked it quite a lot. The sea, the mountains—a great atmosphere. I spent two weeks there. I stayed at a local club. I was sponsored by the club, but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. It was more focused on training tourists. It lacked the essential element: Thai fighters and a team. The club owner is an experienced coach and professional, but unfortunately something did not work out and he did not have any Thai fighters there. I trained, also learned how to coach others, and helped at the club, but our cooperation ended after two weeks. Essentially, that was more or less the plan, because my main goal was Kamphaeng Phet, where I am currently staying. It is a beautiful town and region in the north of the country, five hours from Bangkok. The north is what I like most about Thailand.
I have been at Keaitchatchai gym since September 21. I had arranged everything with the club owner long before the trip. It is a genuine club, with real tradition and culture. The fighters picked me up from the bus station and we went to the club. I met the club owner the next day because he had been away on business. They welcomed me warmly, in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. I immediately knew that this was the place and these were the people I had been looking for. You can feel such things.
The club meets all my expectations. Good conditions and kind, positive people. There are seven fighters living at the club, including me. The owner really takes great care of his fighters and cares about them. He is like a father to them. He is a good and warm-hearted man. I like him very much and we have a good relationship. He tries to raise his fighters as well as possible and pass on values to them. You can see it. I like and appreciate this enormously. This is the true culture and tradition of a muay thai club in Thailand. It is really like a family. I feel at home here. I lack nothing. I am happy. The fighters and training are excellent. We train twice a day—in the morning and in the afternoon. Of course, I also help at the club and look after it, which gives me great pleasure. I treat this place like home. I like the club very much. There is a wonderful atmosphere here.
Mateusz says this about Kamphaeng Phet:
It is also very interesting. There are many ancient temples here that are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites and are truly impressive. I feel very good here; training is going full steam ahead. I will soon have fights, and I will stay at this club until the end of my stay in Thailand. Our cooperation is going very well. I have plans for the future regarding this club because it has great potential. In the future, I would like to become associated with this club, work here, run it, promote it and live permanently in this exceptional country, where I am happiest. It has been my dream for a long time.
And he adds:
Everything can be achieved. You only need to want it and make an effort. I am steadily working toward it, but time and the future will show what happens. After all, fate likes to play tricks, and life is unpredictable. So you have to keep everything in mind. I am very persistent and determined. I have no shortage of ambition or passion. That is what life is about. If that were not the case, how could I have won the championship in 2016 in the birthplace of muay thai?
The road was long and winding. I have been involved in this demanding sport for more than 10 years. I put a great deal of hard work into all of this, and now I am proud of myself. I achieved my goal. Happiness, satisfaction and inner peace. It is worth believing in your dreams and persistently following the chosen path without giving up. Hard work and dedication must bear fruit.
I always speak honestly about my experiences because I am simply honest and genuine. I like sharing values and positivity. Anyone who knows me knows this well. Best wishes, and I invite you to follow my adventures on my Facebook fan page: Mateusz Golsztajn Muay thai.
