One of the stamps prominently features a ceramic bench. The collectible stamps are available at the Tourist and Cultural Information Point (the ceramics shop at BOK – MCC on Piłsudskiego Square).
The idea to decorate Bolesławiec’s Market Square with an original bench came from Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, director of BOK – MCC. The ceramic bench was installed in autumn 2014. It refers to the ceramic traditions of our town. It serves as a place of rest for tourists and residents, as well as an attraction and a place to take a commemorative photograph. The bench was created by Mateusz Grobelny, a ceramic artist who runs a ceramic and sculptural studio at the cultural centre; for five years, he has also been the curator of the International Ceramic and Sculpture Open-Air Workshop in Bolesławiec.
The ceramic bench can accommodate several people. Its colour scheme refers to the colours used in the local ceramics industry: cobalt and white. The tiles were made from regional—Bolesławiec—clay. It weighs approximately 700 kg and measures 260 x 120 x 120 centimetres.
The originator and photographer for the collection of stamps about our town is Bolesławiec resident Beata Biesiadecka, an employee of Poczta Polska.
