On Wednesday, December 3, we reported that councillors had not adopted a resolution approving new water and wastewater tariffs. Only three councillors voted in favor. Seven voted against, while the others abstained. Despite the Council’s opposition, the new tariffs will take effect next year. From January 1, we will pay PLN 2.65/m³ for the water supplied (13.8% more), while the wastewater charge will be PLN 4.29/m³ (29.4% higher).
The price increases sparked heated discussion on our website. Readers criticized the rate increases. PWiK responded to the criticism and published on its website a list of prices in force in neighboring cities. The comparison shows that Bolesławiec residents will pay less than residents of Jelenia Góra, Kamienna Góra, Legnica and Zgorzelec. Only in Lubań are prices minimally lower than in Bolesławiec.
