Every child dreams of experiencing a wonderful adventure with friends at least once. That is exactly the kind of adventure undertaken by 137 children who participated in three camp sessions organized in Jarosławiec by the Bolesławiec Branch of the Children’s Friends Society.
Our camps were co-financed by the Bolesławiec Municipal Office (for children from the city); children with disabilities, co-financed by the District Office – the District Family Support Centre (from PFRON funds), also spent their holidays at the camp. The largest group of participants received funding from the KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation.
During each session, the young adventurers took part in educational games and activities and went on excursions, visiting interesting places. Although the weather liked to play tricks, it allowed the children to do what they enjoyed most: spend time on the beach! Under the supervision of lifeguards, the children could feel like fish in water while swimming in our Polish sea. Naturally, there was no shortage of beach tournaments, including two fires, volleyball and frogs.
Each participant could demonstrate creativity by sculpting in sand, ingenuity by creating costumes for the Camp Fashion Contest, and physical fitness during the Świrobieg or the “Blonds versus Brunettes” game. They could also develop their dancing talents during camp discos or dance lessons.
The Bolesławiec Walruses practiced their swimming skills by taking part in pool sessions several times. This extraordinary expedition was full of magical moments. These included trips to the Amber Museum, the Butterfly House and the Parrot House.
Without a doubt, it is difficult for us to imagine a world without electricity—the world to which Leonardo da Vinci took the participants. At Leonardia Educational Park, everyone could feel like a Renaissance explorer while using nearly 100 games, all made of wood!
Despite the many attractions, there was time to visit the town of Darłówko and set off on an unforgettable boat trip.
The campers experienced many emotions during their visit to the “Tarzanek” Rope Park, where they had to face an obstacle course and heights, but here too they showed great courage. As young adventure trackers, they acquired new skills at the “School of Sailing” and “Magola Survival”, including first aid and knot tying. They also had the opportunity to sail on Lake Wicko and learn the basics of survival.
Without a doubt, it was a time filled with many attractions. Everything was supervised by irreplaceable female counselors, for whom the greatest reward was seeing the children’s happy faces.
Many thanks are due to the female camp managers for preparing such a wonderful holiday. Let us hope that next year everyone will set off on another journey. As the song the children learned says:
We will see each other many more times, and now it is time to set the sails and leave the port on our voyage.
