On Thursday, the finale of the fourth edition of the Off Cinema Festival will take place. Film enthusiasts will have the opportunity to watch seven competing films:

  • two films by Przemysław Filipowicz (the award-winning “Life Is Beautiful” and “The Glue”)
  • the film “Rats” by Wojciech Becla from Nowa Wieś
  • “The Hero” and “The Witty Hairdresser, or Debut” by Wojciech Antosik and Mateusz Olek from Lwówek Śląski (residents of Bolesławiec were able to see their films during the first and second editions of the festival)
  • works by young filmmakers from Wrocław (“NiM powstanie MiM” by Anna Kasperkiewicz and “WiedźMak – Finał Filmu” by Marcin Lesisz and Krzysztof Maślejak).

After the competition section, the festival organizers will present a showcase of the work of Butcher's Films. We will see: “Jealousy” by Filip Rudnicki (this film won last year’s festival), “Marta” by Adam Uryniak, and “The Attic” by Łukasz Bursa.

The festival will conclude with a screening of Maciej Buchwald’s directorial debut, “Nothing to Keep Silent About,” a film that won the Grand Prix in the Independent Cinema Competition at the 33rd Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia. “It is the most important festival in Poland, which is why we want to show this film,” says Iwona Bojko from Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury. Aren’t the organizers afraid that the competition films will differ greatly in quality from Buchwald’s work? “No, these are good films,” Bojko says, dispelling these doubts. “We have nothing to be ashamed of,” she adds.

Attractive prizes await makers of off cinema. The main prize is PLN 1,000. The audience will also choose the best film (its author will receive PLN 500). “We want to showcase the work of young people. If we do not give them such an opportunity, who will?” explains Iwona Bojko. – “One of our tasks is education, and education also means providing help. This money may help them make their next film.”

The festival will begin on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in the Forum cinema auditorium. Admission is free. What is more, attractive film-related gadgets will be raffled among the audience.
