Officers from the Zgorzelec traffic police carried out the “Speed” operation once again from 28 to 30 July. Unfortunately, it once again turned out that our roads are not free of people who deliberately break the rules, endangering themselves and other road users. The officers checked 181 vehicles. A total of 79 drivers were fined, including 51 for exceeding the speed limit.

Moreover, the officers seized 4 driving licences for exceeding the speed limit by at least 50 km/h in a built-up area. The record-holder was a 23-year-old resident of Żary, who was driving at 125 km/h in a built-up area.

In addition, the officers apprehended 3 drunk drivers. In this case, the infamous record-holder was a 49-year-old resident of Radom, who was driving a Renault with more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system.

Additionally, Zgorzelec officers detained two drivers who got behind the wheel despite having their driving entitlements revoked by the district governor.
