On Friday, December 5, Santa Claus will visit children at two municipal preschools (MPP No. 1 and MPP No. 6). That day, the bearded saint from Lapland—accompanied by two elves—will also ride through our city in a horse-drawn carriage, handing out sweets to the residents of our city.
Visits by Santa Claus in Bolesławiec have been organized by Biuro Podróży Perfekt for more than 10 years. “The children react wonderfully,” says Krystyna Juszkiewicz, head of Perfekt. They usually wait impatiently by the window for the arrival of the extraordinary guest. Krystyna Juszkiewicz recalls that once Santa visited one of the families from Bolesławiec. The oldest son had already stopped believing that he existed. After the visit, however, the boy decided that he would convince his entire class that Santa really existed.
In the 1990s, visits by the bearded saint were organized by the Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji. “We invited all the preschools to the park, the stadium, the PKP railway station or the market square,” says Alina Kamińska, the originator of the event, formerly associated with MOSiR and now an employee of Biuro Perfekt. Santa Claus’s first visit was special—he arrived by train. The children waited for him at the station. “We always organized it with great fanfare,” recalls Alina Kamińska.
There will be no great fanfare this year. There will also be no home visits, which were organized in previous years. However, there is a chance that Friday’s event will appeal to children and evoke memories in adults, as well as remind everyone that the Christmas holidays are approaching.
