The following papers were submitted to the competition:
- Dorota Szczukiecka, “Hotel Piast in Bolesławiec” (Faculty of Architecture of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, supervisor Dr Paweł Kirschke),
- Klaudia Chudzik, “Design of a residential and service development on A. Asnyka Street in Bolesławiec” (Faculty of Architecture of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, supervisor Dr Roman Czajka),
- Kamil Nizioł, “Demonstration Centre – Towards Sustainability” (Faculty of Architecture of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, supervisor Dr Anna Bać).
The papers were assessed by a committee consisting of: Full Professor Grzegorz Strauchold (University of Wrocław), Professor Robert Masztalski (Wrocław University of Science and Technology), and representatives of the Bolesławiec Municipal Gmina: Jerzy Zieliński, Bolesławiec secretary, and Jacek Dudyński, head of the “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Centre in Bolesławiec.
The committee awarded two commendations: to Dorota Szczukiecka and Klaudia Chudzik. The authors received PLN 500 each. In the case of D. Szczukiecka’s proposal, it was decided to subject it to an additional public consultation.
It is worth recalling that papers for the 11th edition of the Mayor’s Award Competition may be submitted until 31 October 2017 of the City for the best master’s or doctoral thesis on the history and present-day life of Bolesławiec, defended at any public or non-public university in Poland or abroad. Papers defended in the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 academic years may be submitted. Papers submitted in previous editions of the competition may not be submitted again. The topics recommended by the Mayor of Bolesławiec should focus on issues related to increasing the competitiveness of Bolesławiec on the domestic and foreign markets, as well as be connected with the implementation of development plans adopted by the authorities of Bolesławiec.
