Legnica police officers, working together with Border Guard officers, detained a 55-year-old man suspected of possessing a significant quantity of goods without Polish excise duty markings. The detainee is a 55-year-old resident of Legnica.
In his garage, car and home, the officers found 2.5 kg of illegal tobacco, 2,400 cigarettes and more than 300 litres of spirits. The losses that the State Treasury could have suffered if the goods had reached the market were initially estimated at PLN 20,000.
For this type of offence, perpetrators may face, in addition to the forfeiture of the seized property, up to three years in prison and heavy fines.
