The PironiX fire-dancing group has existed for a year. However, the four young people from Bolesławiec have already performed, among other places, at Grodziec Castle and during the festivals in Wleń and Lubań. As part of the cultural project “Her and Him,” they performed at Bolesławiec’s Concordia. “We are a group involved in fireshow, fire dancing,” says Łukasz Neć.
Is dancing with fire dangerous? “We do it, and nothing has happened to us so far,” says Agnieszka Kryspin, the only girl in the group. “But it is dangerous; you can get burned,” she admits. “We often deal with fire. We are not overly afraid of it, and that fear gets smaller from one performance to the next,” Łukasz adds. During their show, viewers can also feel safe. “We try to be professionals and maintain a safe distance,” notes Grzegorz Szutra.
Fire-eating—is it difficult?
“Fire-eating may seem difficult, but in reality it is not particularly complicated,” explains Paweł Prysak. – “It is important not to touch the metal with your lips, and to put out the fire by slightly closing your lips and blowing.” “If it is a lit torch, you can extinguish it like a match—by cutting off the air supply,” Grzegorz adds.
The PironiX group performs both indoors and outdoors. “We try to adapt,” says Grzegorz. In winter, in enclosed spaces, they present a neonshow—instead of fire, they attach lit lamps to their props. And if someone wants to see a fireshow indoors, the dancers use paraffin, which does not leave marks on the ceiling.
The fire dancers train on Mondays and Tuesdays in a room on Komuny Paryskiej Street. “We are rather a closed group,” says Agnieszka. – “But if anyone would like to come and train with us, they are welcome.”
