The county celebrations of Independence Day concluded with the First Review of Patriotic and Soldiers’ Songs “To a Patriotic Tune,” held on Tuesday, November 18, in the auditorium of I Liceum Ogólnokształcące. Soloists, choirs and ensembles – more than 200 performers – took part in Tuesday’s ceremony.

Participants in the review received, among other things, commemorative plates bearing the coat of arms of Powiat Bolesławiecki. Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec” was one of the sponsors of the awards. The company’s president, Karol Stasik, spoke during the ceremony. “A patriotic song is a song about what our great-grandfathers and forefathers did for their homeland,” he said. “It is also a call to consider what I can do for my country,” he added.
The works presented during the review included both traditional soldiers’ songs and contemporary compositions (“So That Poland Would Be Poland” by Jan Pietrzak and “Freedom” by Marek Grechuta). The group Mechanicus from Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych performed its own interpretation of the song “White Cross,” from the repertoire of Czerwone Gitary. The review concluded with a lively performance by the Chór Informatyków from Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących nr 1 in Bolesławiec, which performed the song “The Lancers Came Beneath the Window.”
“It is a very beautiful and moving ceremony. We heard everything that we carry in our hearts,” says Maria Niemczuk, president of the Association of Siberians in Bolesławiec. – “Thanks to these songs, young people can learn a great deal about our past.” “We wanted to celebrate Independence Day in a cheerful way,” says Urszula Jasik, a methodological adviser at PCEiKK and the event’s originator. “The young people were excellently prepared in every respect. They carry patriotism in their hearts – you can feel it,” she adds.
The First Review of Patriotic and Soldiers’ Songs “To a Patriotic Tune” was organized by Powiatowe Centrum Edukacji i Kształcenia Kadr and Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury w Bolesławcu. The ceremony was hosted by Urszula Jasik and Dorota Dziedzic-Lechowska.
