The “Let’s Respect Nature” tournament, held on 17 November and addressed to primary school pupils, was attended by teams from Bożejowice, Brzeźnik, Kraśnik Dolny, Kruszyn, Trzebień and Żeliszów. The competition participants had to explain the meaning of the words ecology, natural monument, recycling and environmental degradation. Only the team from Kraśnik Dolny managed to explain the last term.
The waste-sorting challenge proved to be quite difficult. All the teams received bags containing various types of rubbish. The children had to place them in the appropriate containers. Aluminium foil caused the youngsters no small amount of trouble (some of the teams put it in the paper container).
The winners were selected by a competition committee consisting of: Helena Szymula, director of the Municipal School Services Centre; Jarosław Kowalski, director for investments and environmental protection at the Bolesławiec MZGK; and Krzysztof Zatylny, a member of the Economic Development and Finance Committee of the Bolesławiec Municipal Council.
First place went to the team representing the Primary School in Kraśnik Dolny (Natalia Skrabucha, Mateusz Deberny, Grzegorz Paluch and Marcin Dudziak). The team from Kruszyn took second place (Adrianna Koch, Aleksandra Ziembikiewicz, Marta Najdek and Szymon Ostrowski), while the team from Trzebień came third (Kamila Wróbel, Natalia Regińska, Kamila Marszałek and Piotr Kwoczka).
The tournament was organised by the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn.
