Police officers uncovered a scheme in which parents defrauded the City of Jelenia Góra of school scholarships. Eleven people were charged with fraud and using a forged document, while one person was charged with issuing forged documents, for which the latter charged between PLN 20 and PLN 30.

The scheme lasted approximately one year. It involved awarding school scholarships to parents who met the formal requirements, allowing them to purchase clothing or sportswear. The scholarships—ranging from PLN 200 to PLN 700—were paid out after receipts or invoices documenting the purchase were submitted.

The officers determined that the documents were forged. The parents did not purchase clothing for the “scholarship recipients” either. The losses incurred by the Jelenia Góra municipal office amount to no less than PLN 8,000.

Most of the suspects face up to 8 years in prison. The person issuing the forged documents could be sentenced to 5 years behind bars.
