“Discover the Region” was a series of creative workshops on history close to the students of Kruszyn Primary School, organized to mark the 70th anniversary of the institution, celebrated this year. The activities took place from April 10 to June 5, 2017, on the premises of the school and public library. Students took part in creative activities during which they learned about the history of Kruszyn and its school, as well as the town’s educational traditions over the past 200 years (presented in the form of multimedia presentations).
The next stage of the workshops consisted of educational, motivational and leadership games designed to develop participants’ skills in group cooperation and communication with people of different ages. At the end of the activities, the younger project participants assembled a jigsaw puzzle to create a pictorial map of the town, while students in grades IV–VI took part in meetings with invited guests. During the meetings, Ms Helena Madziarz talked about the history of the school in the 1950s; Ms Irena Szoka and Mr Franciszek Zielonka talked about school life in the second half of the 20th century; Ms Grażyna Łucka explained the activities of the Parents’ Committee; and Lidia Lidia and Joel Beucherowie compared the French school system with the Polish education system.
The project aimed to increase knowledge of the town’s history and develop cooperation and communication skills. The workshops were organized on a voluntary basis by the School and Kindergarten Complex in Kruszyn, the Public Library in Kruszyn, and Agata Żukowska, Anita Kaczmarek and Sebastian Zielonka.
