The artists will work at three Bolesławiec companies: Zakłady Ceramiczne „BOLESŁAWIEC” Sp. z o.o., „Ceramika Artystyczna” Spółdzielnia Rękodzieła Artystycznego and Fabryka Naczyń Kamionkowych „Manufaktura” Sp. J. Smoleński & Zwierz. Additional workspaces will be provided by the studios of Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury – Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki. Mateusz Grobelny has been appointed the symposium curator for the fifth time.

The symposium participants will take part in the largest event promoting our city, the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival. Two exhibitions connected with the symposium will be held during the event. The first will present sculptures received from the artists selected for the symposium. The second, a post-symposium exhibition, will consist of works created last year during the 52nd edition of the symposium.

A four-person committee consisting of Ewa Lijewska – Małachowska, Director of Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury – Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki; Anna Bober – Tubaj, Director of Muzeum Ceramiki w Bolesławcu; Krystyna Gay – Kutschenreiter, symposium curator from 1990 to 2005; and Mateusz Grobelny, curator of this year's symposium, selected 11 artists from the applications submitted. The participants in the 53rd International Ceramic and Sculpture Symposium in Bolesławiec are: Marta Berezhnenko – Ukraine, Anna Chavus – Ukraine, Srinia Chowdhury – India, Małgorzata Maternik – Poland, Jane Jermyn – Ireland, Iga Kalkowska – Poland, Kazimierz Kalkowski – Poland, Ihor Kovalevych – Ukraine, Donata Lesińska – Poland, Marta Małoszyc-Silbert – Poland, Mohamad Soudy – Egypt, and Mateusz Grobelny – Poland/ Symposium Curator.

The Bolesławiec symposium is the oldest event of its kind in Poland. It effectively promotes the work of outstanding ceramic sculptors from Poland and abroad. It is organized by Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury – Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki and the Municipality of Bolesławiec.
