Although in recent years we have observed a downward trend in the number of drownings, every such case is still a tragedy for the victim’s loved ones. In order to improve the safety of people in and around the water, the Prevention Bureau of the Police Headquarters launched the information and educational campaign “I’m into safety… on the water”.
The campaign will be carried out from June to September throughout the country, with particular intensity in areas around bodies of water as well as at recreation and holiday centres. As every year, police officers will remind children, young people and adults relaxing by the water—including anglers—about safety rules.
Information leaflets, stickers and educational posters have been prepared. They encourage, among other things, the use of supervised bathing areas, compliance with the signs in force there, and adapting the type of activity to individual abilities and skills.
