Bolesławiec Days is an event at which the residents of Bolesławiec are primarily presented. On Friday, the BOK – MCC galleries “W sam raz” and “mała Biała” will host the opening of an exhibition by talented participants in BOK – MCC's amateur arts classes, entitled “5xP i Instruktorzy”. The opening will feature ceramics, drawing, painting, artistic textiles, glass and stained glass. The exhibition summarizes the work of the following studios: the visual arts studio “Akademia sztuki,” led by Stanisława Wojda-Pytlińska; the ceramics and sculpture studio of Edyta Orlińska; the author-run ceramics and sculpture studio of Mateusz Grobelny; the glass and stained-glass studio led by Magdalena Konieczna; the artistic textiles studio led by Teresa Olszewska-Bancewicz; and the drawing and sculpture studio of Czesław Matyjewicz. The instructors will also present their work. The second exhibition opening—featuring works by students of the University of the Third Age, entitled “Experience”—will take place in the BOK – MCC foyer. The artists work under the guidance of Katarzyna Sas.
The following day, Saturday, June 17, will see the 17th edition of the Festival of South Slavic Culture. On that day, a re-emigrant settlement will be created in Piłsudski Square and populated by rural women's circles and associations. City residents and visitors will have the opportunity to try Balkan cuisine specialties: traditional pita with fillings (spicy and savory), goulash soup and pepper soup. Once again, culinary competitions for “good pita” and a “Balkan cauldron” will be held.
The Association of Re-emigrants from Bosnia, Their Descendants and Friends will present an exhibition. In the afternoon, a colorful parade of folk groups will take place, followed by the official opening of the festival by Bolesławiec City Mayor Piotr Roman. Together, we will dance kolo—a traditional folk dance popular in the Balkans. On stage, local folk groups and invited guests—Gradsko Kulturno Umjetnicko Drustvo „PRONIJA” z Prnjavora—will present the folklore of South Slavic countries through dance, music and song.
In the evening, one of Poland's most interesting folk-rock groups—Słowiany—will perform on stage. They are colorful personalities with energetic music and a Slavic spirit. Their music delivers a huge dose of positive energy. They were contestants on the eighth edition of the television program “Must Be The Music”.
That day, we also invite you to “Balkan Rhythms at Termy Bolesławiec”: a brine bath, sauna rituals and relaxation in a salt cave accompanied by lively Balkan music. Meanwhile, the Municipal Sports and Recreation Center in Bolesławiec invites you to the MultiSport Centrum Beach at Popiełuszki Square for a beach sports tournament and an archery tournament.
On the final day of the celebrations, Sunday, associations and non-governmental organizations affiliated with the Bolesławiec Senior Citizens Council will promote themselves at stands in Piłsudski Square. Amateur artistic groups that dance and sing regularly at BOK – MCC, as well as Bolesławiec seniors, will perform on stage. The official opening of Senior Citizens Day will be preceded by a colorful parade from the Market Square to Piłsudski Square.
Bolesławiec Days 2017 will conclude with two concerts. First, Bartek Wrona will perform for the Bolesławiec audience. In the 1990s, he performed with the band Just 5. He began his solo career with the hit “One in a Million”.
The evening's headliner will be the disco polo band Bayer Full. The group's leader and vocalist is Sławomir Świerzyński. The band has nineteen original albums to its credit, with total sales exceeding 16 million copies. Its most popular songs include “Majteczki w kropeczki”, “Blondyneczka”, “Wszyscy Polacy to jedna rodzina” and “Żono moja”. We warmly invite you to join in the fun!
