The participants who completed the course received certificates confirming its completion. They were presented—on behalf of the Municipal Police Commander in Jelenia Góra, Insp. Zbigniewa Markowskiego—by Deputy Head of the Prevention Department, Subinsp. Mariusz Sobolewski.

The practical classes took place in the gymnasium of the Municipal Cultural Centre in Jelenia Góra. During the very first classes, the participants practised basic self-defense techniques. The course also included workshops with a police psychologist, a KMP officer responsible for crime prevention, and a paramedic.

The main aim of the self-defense course for women is to mentally and physically prepare its participants to avoid or, if necessary, repel a direct attack on their life or health. “Due to the high level of interest in the course, another edition will probably be held next year,” say the officers.

The “Safe in Your City” course was organized by the Jelenia Góra police and the International Police Association (IPA). Jelenia Góra Mayor Marcin Zawiła served as honorary patron of the prevention program.
