The District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra is conducting an investigation against 40-year-old Bogatynia resident Tomasz T., who has been charged with the following:
- On April 18 in Bogatynia, he attacked 78-year-old Irena B., punched her in the face several times, and then stole, among other things, her wallet containing PLN 1,000
- two days later in Opolno-Zdrój, using a paving slab, he attacked priest Marek R. (pictured in the header); he struck him on the head with the slab (the victim lost consciousness) and then kicked him all over his body. He then stole the clergyman’s Renault Fluence passenger car, valued at PLN 66,000, as well as other items. (In an interview with “Fakty TVN,” the priest said that he was afraid the attacker would take him into the woods)
- On April 20 in Jelenia Góra, driving the stolen Renault at excessive speed, he attacked police officers. T. saw a marked police car standing across the road with its lights and siren activated. Two uniformed officers were inside the vehicle: Tomasz G. and Krystian K. They signaled for him to stop. However, he did not do so; on the contrary, he accelerated and rammed the police car. The officers were injured
- on the same day, on public roads in Jelenia Góra and other nearby localities in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, he created a direct risk of causing a catastrophe in land traffic
- he possessed 1.16 g of methamphetamine.
Questioned as a suspect, Tomasz T. admitted guilt but refused to give an explanation. At the district prosecutor’s request, the court ordered T. to be held in temporary detention for three months.
The suspect faces a prison sentence of at least three years. Further evidentiary proceedings in the case are currently underway.
